Some people think it doesn’t really make a difference if you use an LED lightbulb or a regular lightbulb but the truth is that 90% of the energy used in a regular lightbulb is used to produce warmth. This warmth is not light. So only 10% is used to make light. 90% of the energy used in a regular lightbulb is useless. Now, an LED lighting bulb doesn’t produce warmth. So it only uses 10% of the amount of energy a normal lightbulb uses to generate the same amount of light! This huge advantage saves a lot of energy and therefore saves the use of fossil fuels.

Also, the production of LED lights is less stressful for the environment than the production of a regular lightbulb is. This way, you’ll do the environment good by using outdoor LED lighting.

Secondly, the costs of outdoor LED lighting. If you buy LED lighting in a store, the pricetag will be higher than when you buy normal lighting at the same store. There’s a good reason for that. First of all the production costs of LED lighting is much higher than that of normal lighting. Second of all the LED lighting wears less quickly than normal lighting. As said before, normal lighting uses a lot more energy, mostly because a lot of the energy is used to generate heat. This heat wears the lightbulb. Because LED lighting doesn’t generate that much heat it has almost no wear, especially outside! This makes the outdoor LED lighting almost indestructable! Also, because these lights use less energy, about 90% less energy than normal outdoor lighting, they are really cost efficient in the long run.

So, the initial purchase of outdoor LED lighting might be a bit more costly than buying normal lighting, it is a lot cheaper in the long run.

Another thing to watch out for is that a lot of governments are already limiting the production of normal lighting. If you’re buying normal outdoor lighting and a lightbulb breaks, you’ll have to buy new ones. But what if by that time the government has a law implemented that limits stores to sell normal lightbulbs? For example, this is already going on in the Netherlands, in 2014, no lightbulbs over an X amount of Watt may be produced or sold… And this is the country of Philips! The first multinational manufacturer of lightbulbs! Anyway, expect the same process to happen in other countries, because LED lighting is just that much better for the environment…

So, now you’ve read this article you know exactly why you should buy outdoor LED lighting instead of normal LED lighting. The one thing holding you back could be the initial price on purchase. But if you expect to use it regularly you will be better off in the long run by using LED lighting.
